I'm so happy to say that all the sickness is gone in our home and we are all better just in time for a weekend of parties. On Friday night we had Reid's birthday party:
Then we went right over to the church party. It was tons of fun. The kids were pretty tired by the end of it though. Then this morning we went to the Syncrude party for the kids. It brought back so many memories of when I was a kid going to those. I was Jada's age when I went to my first one. They had a magician there and then the kids got to meet Santa and have lunch. And they give out such nice gifts. Leela got a Princess throne that plays music when she sits on it and it came with a skirt and tons of jewelery. Reid got a huge Nurf gun that's like a machine gun. I was having so much fun shooting my kids with it all day and then I told them they could shoot me with it. MAN does that ever kill to get blasted with that thing directly in the face from up close!! Jada was like, "SEE! I told you it hurts!!" I thought she was being dramatic! haha! Anyways, Jada got a horse for her barbies that walks and plays music. And Silver got a walker thing that she can use when she's learning to walk. Very cool.
So, on Friday when we went to see Santa at the church (AKA, brother Simpson) Jada was like, "mommy, that doesn't look like Santa..." And so we told her that was one of his helpers. Then when we went to the Syncrude party the Santa there came out and totally had a Newfie accent!! He was like, "where ya to, by?" The minute he started talking I burst out laughing!! Then I thought, now how am I going to explain this one to the kids. I thought for sure they'd notice the accent and wonder who this guys was. But then I realized that my kids all have grown up around newfies so they are probably all used to it and think he talks normal! lol I've even heard Jada come home from school saying Newfie terms. It's soo funny!
So here is Newfie Santa with Jada. Reid was too scared and Leela...well, she wanted to meet him but right before she got to him she was sitting on a bench and leaned back because she thought there was a back to the bench but there wasn't so she fell back and hit her head on a metal radiator and the brick floor. So...needless to say, she wasn't really in the "let's go meet Santa mood!!" lol
So, that's what we've been up to lately. I think it got me a little bit more into the Christmas mood. I haven't really been feeling that Christmasy this year. I haven't even set up my tree yet. I'm not really in any rush since it all gets destroyed so fast anyways.
Oh, and just one more question...why does everyone I know with little kids have such nice Christmas trees?? How is this possible...please tell me your secrets! Ours consists of 2 year old broken candy canes and decorations the kids made from school. It always looks so sad. Maybe that's why I'm in no rush to put it up this year!
